Broncos vs. Chargers: Betting odds, spread, preview, and prediction

The Denver Broncos hope to continue their road dominance over the AFC West Sunday when they visit the San Diego Chargers.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos are 11-0 SU and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games against divisional opponents. The Broncos will try to continue that road dominance in San Diego Sunday against the Chargers.

Denver is a 4-point road favorite, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. With the defense playing well and plenty of betting trends pointing in their direction, the Broncos appear to be a strong play this Sunday to win and cover on the road.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Denver 33, San Diego 24.7

Peyton Manning hasn’t put up his usual big numbers in Denver’s last two games, and even saw his streak of 51 straight games with a touchdown pass end last week. But with running back C.J. Anderson and the defense playing well, the Broncos are proving they can find different ways to win with a 3-0 SU record since their upset loss against St. Louis. The Broncos are 4-1 ATS in their last five trips to San Diego and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 December games.

San Diego hosts Denver at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Chargers had a solid defensive showing in holding the New England Patriots to 24 points last Sunday night, but couldn’t get anything going on offense in the 24-13 home loss. With the loss, San Diego fell to 8-5 SU and 6-7 ATS on the season and 1-7 ATS over its last eight games. The Chargers are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games against AFC West opponents and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games played in December.

Sunday’s total is set at 50.5 points at the sportsbooks. The UNDER is 4-1 in San Diego’s last five home games and 3-1 in the last four meetings between Denver and San Diego, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

With the emergence of C.J. Anderson at running back, the Denver Broncos have added another layer of depth on offense. Denver’s strong play on the road against division rivals and recent form on defense give the Broncos a great chance to cover the spread as a 4-point favorite Sunday; and Peyton Manning can’t stay cold forever, either.
