Bowl Previews: Underdog Duke looking for first bowl win in over 50 years

The Duke Blue Devils are 0-4 SU in their last four bowl appearances since winning the Cotton Bowl against Arkansas back in 1960.

The Blue Devils will try to score their first bowl win in over 50 years against the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Sun Bowl at 2:00pm ET on Saturday, December 27.

Duke is a 7.5-point underdog against ASU at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Arizona State controlled its own destiny in the Pac-12 and was a dark horse playoff contender after an 8-1 SU and 5-4 ATS start, but a 1-2 SU and ATS finish with road losses to Oregon State and Arizona doomed the Sun Devils. ASU is 1-5 ATS over its last six bowl games.

Nebraska and USC kick off at 8:00pm ET on Saturday, December 27 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego for the Holiday Bowl. USC enters this game with an 8-2 SU and ATS record in its last 10 bowl appearances.

The team representing the Big 12 has beaten the team representing the Pac-12 in four of the last five Holiday Bowl matchups. The UNDER is 6-0 over the last six Holiday Bowl games and 6-1 over Nebraska's last seven bowl games. USC is listed as a 7-point favorite on the college football betting lines.

Despite ending the year with an impressive 9-3 SU record, the Clemson Tigers were 5-7 ATS on the year including a 1-6 ATS run to end the season. Oklahoma also struggled down the stretch with a 4-4 SU and 2-6 ATS record over its last eight games. Clemson and Oklahoma meet in the Russell Athletic Bowl at 5:30pm ET on Monday, December 29.

The Sooners are a 3.5-point favorite; Oklahoma is 7-2 SU in its last nine bowl games as a favorite and Clemson is 3-11 SU in its last 14 games as a betting underdog.

Other interesting bowl matchups coming up include NC State (+2) vs. UCF in the St. Petersburg Bowl at 8:00pm ET on December 26, Miami (-3.5) vs. South Carolina in the Independence Bowl at 3:30pm ET on December 27, and Texas A&M (+3.5) vs. West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl at 2:00pm ET on December 29.
