Louisville vs UConn betting odds, AAC tournament preview, prediction

Louisville is favored to win its third straight tournament crown. They were laying 8 points to UConn.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville Cardinals for the third straight year appear to be heating up at the right time.

After winning the Big East conference title in 2012 and 2013, Louisville is one win over Connecticut away from locking up the AAC conference title here in 2014.

They were favored by 8 points in early wagering at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Louisville is 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS over its last 11 games. The Cardinals aren’t just beating opposing teams over the last few weeks; they are completely annihilating them. Louisville’s average margin of victory has been 24.8 points over its last 10 wins, including the current 4-0 SU and ATS stretch in which the Cardinals have outscored opponents 351-216 for an average margin of victory of 33.8 points per game.

And that streak includes an 84-71 road win over ranked SMU and an 81-48 win over UConn.

What can Connecticut do to turn the tide in this series? The Huskies have played well down the stretch with a 12-3 SU and 10-4-1 ATS record over their last 15 games, including impressive upset wins over Memphis and Cincinnati in the AAC Tournament to advance into the final.

But in two games against Louisville this season, the Huskies have had no answer for the Cardinals, losing 76-64 at home in addition to the 81-48 loss in Louisville.

This isn’t the only season that Louisville has had Connecticut’s number either. Since 2010, Louisville is 8-1 SU and ATS in nine games against its conference rival. The total has gone UNDER in five of the last six games between these two teams.

That is in line with their recent play as well, as the total has gone UNDER in seven of Louisville’s last 11 games and in 12 of Connecticut’s last 13 games including each of its last eight.

With the way Louisville is playing right now on both sides of the court, it is going to take an incredible effort from Connecticut to make this championship game an interesting one.
