Duke Blue Devils vs Virginia Cavaliers betting, ACC Championship odds

Duke has the pedigree but Virginia is confident as the ACC tournament final odds indicate. See the matchup trends between the Blue Devils and Cavaliers.

USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Cavaliers have been one of the biggest surprises of the season, winning the ACC regular season title with a 16-2 SU record against conference opponents.

The Cavaliers are one win away from winning the ACC Tournament title as well, but that victory will have to come against the Duke Blue Devils. Virginia is a 1-point underdog in the ACC Championship.

Riding the best defense in the nation allowing just 55.3 points per game, the Virginia Cavaliers have mowed through their ACC foes this season. Since the start of its conference schedule on January 4, Virginia is 18-2 SU and 15-4-1 ATS in 20 games including a 64-51 win over Florida State and a 51-48 win over Pittsburgh in the ACC Tournament.

Virginia’s defense has given up 53 points or less in six of its last nine games.

The Duke Blue Devils stumbled a bit towards the end of the regular season, going 2-2 SU and 0-3-1 ATS in NCAA college basketball betting after going 8-1 SU and ATS in their previous nine games.

But the Blue Devils ended the regular season with a 93-81 home win over North Carolina and have fended off Clemson and North Carolina State in the ACC Tournament to advance to the finals.

After failing to break 20 points in his previous five games, Jabari Parker has done so twice in his last three with 30 points against North Carolina and 20 against NC State.

All signs seem to point to a low-scoring game in the ACC Championship. The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Virginia’s last 14 games and in seven of Duke’s last nine. The UNDER is also 8-2-1 in the last 11 games between Duke and Virginia.

Duke holds a 9-1 SU edge in its last 10 games against the Cavaliers, but Virginia is 5-1 ATS over its last six games against Duke.

The spread isn’t likely to play a big role in Sunday’s game at only 1 point. Duke won 69-65 at home in the one meeting between these two teams this season.

With no home court advantage factoring into this one, this looks on paper to be a very close game between two evenly matched teams.
