World Cup Betting Futures: Brazil Tops Odds List

Brazil is the host and the favorite in odds to win the 2014 World Cup. Is there value in Spain, Germany and other European powers?

Matthias Kern

Brazil is the host of the World Cup and they have the best betting odds at Sports Interaction with Argentina, Germany, and defending champion Spain all having solid odds.

In the four World Cups held in South America, a team from that continent has won every time.

Check out the latest World Cup betting lines for Brazil 2014. And for World Cup game odds (including the opener between Brazil and Croatia), visit Soccer Shark.

Brazil - 3.61

Brazil is the betting favorite not only because they are the host, but they are also stacked. Neymar is one of the up and coming superstars in the game and there are no glaring weaknesses for the squad.

Brazil did not have to qualify as the host, but they played several tough friendlies and looked impressive. They are not in the toughest group, but Mexico and Croatia are the two good teams and they both struggled in qualifying.

Argentina - 5.73

Superstar Lionel Messi leads an Argentina team that may have the best attack in the tournament.

Messi does not have to do it all with the squad loaded up front with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, but there are concerns with the defense.

Germany - 6.23

Germany has the best betting odds for any European team they have a great squad and while their defense and midfield is superb they do not have a world-class striker.

It would be surprising if the team did not advance to the round of 16, but the Germans are playing in the Group of Death.

Spain - 7.50

Spain is the reigning World Cup winner and Xavi leads a midfield that may be the best playing in Brazil. The defense is solid, Diego Costa is a great striker, and the team wins with their ability to always win the time of possession battle.

In group play, Spain faces a Holland team they beat in the final of the last World Cup.

Belgium - 18.00

Belgium is a young and very talented team that may be a dark horse no longer. There are really no glaring weaknesses for the squad and the one knock on them is that they have a novice head coach in Marc Wilmots and the team lacks major international tournament experience.

Italy - 23.00

Italy is a veteran laden squad with such as Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon. Giuseppe Rossi and the mercurial Mario Balotelli lead the Italian offense and can the old guys still get it done?

They play in one of the tougher groups with Uruguay and England.

Portugal - 25.00

Portugal is playing in the Group of Death along with Germany, Ghana, and USA and there is a lot of pressure on star striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Colombia - 26.00

Colombia has the third best World Cup betting odds from a South American team and while they have a solid offense and they looked good in qualifying they have not looked good in their last couple of friendly tune-ups.

France - 27.00

France looks to get over their horrible showing in the last World Cup and they looked good in qualifying. They had to come back at home facing a good Ukraine team in the European playoff tie.

Holland - 31.00

The Dutch have a good offense led by Robin van Persie and they face Spain in group play. Holland had the best record in European World Cup qualifying.

Uruguay - 32.00

Uruguay is in a tough group and issues on defense, but a potent offense led by the duo of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

Here are the odds to win the World Cup at Sports Interaction as of March 28th.
