Florida Gators vs Kentucky Wildcats betting preview, prediction, trends

Florida can punch its No. 1 Madness ticket with a win over Kentucky and they are favored to beat Kentucky.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators are a perfect 22-0 SU over their last 22 games, and can end the regular season with an 18-0 SU record against conference opponents with a win on Saturday at home against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Florida was an 8.5-point favorite in Saturday’s SEC showdown.

Two road losses against ranked teams by a combined total of seven points are all that separate the Florida Gators from a perfect 30-0 record. The Gators have been as consistent as can be, shutting teams down with the fifth best scoring defense in the nation allowing just 58.2 points per game.

They appear to be a solid bet as fans decide who to bet on March Madness menus and billion-dollar brackets.

And with balanced scoring from Casey Prather (14.5 points per game), Michael Frazier II (13.1 PPG), and Scottie Wilbekin (12.9 PPG), Florida has averaged 71.1 points per game to dominate conference play. The Gators are 4-3 ATS over their last seven games and have covered the spread in each of their last two.

Kentucky entered its home game against Florida back in February on an 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS run, but failed the home test in a 69-59 loss as a 2.5-point favorite. Since then, the Wildcats have gone 3-2 SU and 1-4 ATS with outright losses as 10-point favorites against South Carolina and Alabama.

Freshman Julius Randle leads the team in points per game (15.4) and rebounds per game (10.5) but hasn’t been able to get Kentucky over the hump in big games. Going up against ranked opponents, the Wildcats are 1-3 SU and 1-2-1 ATS.

These two teams tend to play in tight games as the total has gone UNDER in six of the last seven games between Florida and Kentucky. The total has gone UNDER in eight of Florida’s last 12 games and in seven of Kentucky’s last nine.

Since 2010, Kentucky holds an 8-3 SU edge over Florida while the two teams have gone 5-5-1 ATS over that stretch.

But Florida is 2-1 SU and ATS over its last three games against the Wildcats, and if current form is any indication the Wildcats are going to have a tough time turning the tide on the road Saturday afternoon.

Prediction: 75-60 Florida
