Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Odds Preview, Trends

Two of the favorites to win the 2014 World Series battle again at Dodger Stadium as the Detroit Tigers visit. See the latest odds and trends.

Heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Detroit Tigers had seen the total go UNDER in 11 of their last 13 games on the road.

The Tigers and Dodgers wrap up their two-game series in Los Angeles on Wednesday night and the MLB odds situation at even (-105) for each team in early wagering at Topbet.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are considered by most to be the team to beat in the National League with no noticeable weaknesses in their lineup, pitching staff or bullpen. Los Angeles started the season off with a 4-1 SU record on the road but dropped its first two games at home to San Francisco before winning the final game of that series on Sunday.

After being sidelined this spring with an ankle injury, Josh Beckett is set to take the mound for his first start of the season on Wednesday.

While Los Angeles is the team to beat in the NL, Detroit is among the elite teams in the AL. The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 SU start to the season with two wins over Kansas City and two wins over Baltimore before losing to Baltimore on Sunday to fall to 4-1.

The Tigers have one of the best pitching staffs in the American League led by Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Wednesday’s starter, Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez had a 2.57 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 29 starts last season.

Coming into this series, the Los Angeles Dodgers held a 4-2 SU record in their last six games against Detroit. Interestingly, all six games had been decided by two runs or more. The total was split down the middle at 2-2-2.

This interleague game serves as a potential World Series preview between two of baseball’s best teams. The Tigers appear to have the edge in pitching with Sanchez going up against Beckett, but Beckett pitched well for the Dodgers in 2012 and is battling for a spot at the bottom of the rotation with Dan Haren and Paul Maholm.

Both teams remain atop the odds to win the 2014 World Series, according to OddsShark.com.
