Spain vs. Chile betting highlights World Cup 2014 odds Wednesday

Spain must win impressively against Chile or their World Cup odds and dreams of repeating will go down the drain. See the other Brazil betting action for Wednesday.

Spain will be fighting for their World Cup lives when they face Chile on Wednesday in the second day of Group B action.

The defending European and World Cup champions are 5/9 moneyline favorites against Chile in a match which they must win by a significant margin to remain in the hunt for a berth in the round of 16.

Spain entered the tournament at 6/1 to repeat as champions, trailing only Brazil, Argentina and Germany in World Cup futures wagering odds.

However, after suffering a devastating 5-1 loss to Netherlands in their opening match, Spain has dropped to a 12/1 World Cup betting line and just 10/11 to advance out of the group stage.

Chile looked strong in their 3-1 opening match win over Australia; a game that featured no shortage of end-to-end action and goal scoring opportunities. The Chileans can clinch a berth in the round of 16 with a win over Spain, but enter the match as 22/5 moneyline underdogs.

Trailing the pack in Group B with a goal differential of -4, Spain will be desperate to fill the net and take away Chile’s significant edge in the group stage tie-breaker. However, Chile’s strength is on offense, setting the stage for a potential high scoring match.

The TOTAL is currently pegged at 2.5, with 2/3 moneyline odds on OVER and 5/4 on the UNDER.

Netherlands can all but clinch first place in Group B with a win over Australia on Wednesday. The Oranje are heavy 2/11 moneyline favorites over the Socceroos, who are pegged at 12/1.

While World Cup futures odds portray the game as a mismatch, the Australians, 2000/1 to win the tourney, should not be underestimated. Netherlands have emerged as a 10/1 futures favorite after demolishing Spain, but the Oranje have never beaten Australia in three matches all-time.

A pair of Group A squads will also be playing desperate soccer on Wednesday. Cameroon and Croatia both dropped their opening matches, and both squads need a victory to stay alive. Croatia gets the nod as 10/17 favorites in the first ever meeting between the two squads.

But with the forecast in Manaus calling for stifling heat with humidity making it feel like well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at game time, Cameroon may enjoy an advantage.
