NFL preseason betting: Week 3 odds preview, Chiefs still losing

The Chiefs continue their losing preseason ways and the Eagles try to snap a losing skid vs the Steelers in Week 3 NFL preseason betting this week.

Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS in their last seven preseason games against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles will try to break an 0-4 ATS streak against the Steelers with a win on Thursday night as a 3.5-point favorite as NFL preseason betting kicks off Week 3.

Pittsburgh was 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in its last six preseason games heading into last week, finally breaking the slump with a 19-16 win over Buffalo as a 1-point favorite at home, according to one book.

The Steelers are 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three preseason road games and have lost outright in each of their last two preseason trips to Philadelphia.

On Friday, the Carolina Panthers are a 5.5-point road underdog visiting the New England Patriots. New England has dominated this preseason series in recent years with a 4-1 SU and 4-0-1 ATS record against the Panthers over the last five preseason meetings between these two teams. The Patriots are also 3-0 SU and ATS over their last three preseason home games.

Fading the Oakland Raiders on the road has been a very strong preseason play over the last eight seasons. The Raiders are 2-14 SU and 5-11 ATS over their last 16 preseason road games including a current stretch of failing to beat the NFL odds at 0-7 SU and 1-6 ATS.

They’ll try to snap out of their road futility as a 7-point underdog against Green Bay on Friday.

On Saturday, two more bad preseason road teams will be in action when the Dallas Cowboys visit the Miami Dolphins and the Minnesota Vikings take on the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Dallas is just 4-11 SU and ATS in its last 15 preseason road games. The Cowboys are 0-4 SU and ATS in their last four preseason games played on the road, averaging only 12.75 points per game over that stretch. Miami is a 3.5-point favorite at home.

Minnesota is an ugly 1-6 SU and ATS over its last seven preseason road games. Kansas City is a 3.5-point favorite and will be looking for a rare cover on Saturday. The Chiefs, after an ATS loss and a push so far, are now a bankroll-depleting 7-31-2 ATS over their last 40 preseason games overall.
