Four 2014 college football prop bet questions

Odds on who will win the Heisman Trophy and futures on who will win the national title are not the only bets in college football.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Jameis Winston is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at 9/2 over Marcus Mariota at 5/1 this season, but who is favored to pass for more yardage?

Both star quarterbacks are involved in some intriguing 2014 college football season prop bets, as aggregated by Odds Shark, the lines provider to SBNation.com.

Who will have more yards in the Pac-12?

This figures to be a very close battle between Arizona State's Taylor Kelly (+100), UCLA's Brett Hundley (+115) and Oregon's Marcus Mariota (+125).

Taylor Kelly won’t receive the Heisman hype of his Pac-12 counterparts, but he is coming off of a career year as a junior in which he had 3,635 passing yards and 608 rushing yards for 4,343 total yards. That surpassed Brett Hundley’s 3,819 total yards but fell just shy of Mariota’s 4,380. All three quarterbacks look poised for big years on offense in 2014.

Who will have more touchdowns in the SEC?

Auburn’s Nick Marshall (+100) is a slight favorite over Mississippi’s Bo Wallace (+110) and Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott (+135).

The top five-rated quarterbacks in the SEC have all departed to the NFL, leaving room for a new crop to lead the way. Marshall had 14 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing TDs for 26 total last year, a number that is expected to rise in his second year under Gus Malzahn.

Wallace had 24 total touchdowns in 2013 but will try to find his 2012 form (30 total touchdowns) this season. Prescott enters his second year as a starter coming off a 23-touchdown campaign.

Will Jameis Winston lead the ACC in passing touchdowns?

Last season, this wasn’t close. Winston’s 40 passing touchdowns beat Tajh Boyd’s 34 by six, and the next closest quarterback in the conference only had 21. With Boyd departed to the NFL, Winston is a -150 favorite to lead the ACC in passing touchdowns.

Will Bryce Petty lead the Big 12 in passing yards?

Bryce Petty passed for 4,200 yards in 2013, topping the next closest quarterback by over 1,400 yards. He seems like a strong value pick at +150 to lead the conference again, but the ‘No' may cash at -200 if Davis Webb stays healthy all season leading Texas Tech's pass-happy attack. Baylor opens against SMU, which could vault Petty to an early lead.
