NFL Week 2 opening odds roundup: Revenge of the favorites

Underdogs feasted on chalk in Week 1, and the Week 2 NFL point spreads reflect this.

Patrick Smith

Over the last 20 games between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, both teams are 10-10 straight up and 9-9-2 against the spread.

The evenly matched rivalry will have another installment this Thursday night when the Ravens host the Steelers as a 2.5-point favorite.

While these two teams have been historically known for their defense, one of the better bets in this series has been on the OVER recently, which has gone 5-2 in the last seven games between the Steelers and Ravens.

Pittsburgh 3-0 ATS in its last three games against the Ravens, including two games in Baltimore.

The New England Patriots travel to Minnesota on Sunday as a three-point road favorite against the Vikings. The Patriots are 7-4 SU in their last 11 games as a road favorite but are just 2-7-1 ATS over that stretch. Minnesota meanwhile is 7-1 SU and ATS in its last eight games as a home underdog.

The Denver Broncos are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last four games against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fresh off a Sunday night win at home over the Indianapolis Colts, the Broncos will once again be a big home favorite hosting the Chiefs and are going off at minus-13.

The UNDER is 5-1-1 in the last seven games between these two AFC West rivals.

On Sunday night, the Chicago Bears visit the San Francisco 49ers. Chicago lost outright at home last week to Buffalo as a 6.5-point favorite, and will try its luck as a 6.5-point underdog this time around.

Dating back to last season, the Bears are just 2-7 ATS over their last nine games and 0-3 SU over their last three.

Monday night football pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the Indianapolis Colts in Indianapolis. Philadelphia is 8-1 SU and 6-2-1 ATS over its last nine regular season games. Indianapolis is 4-0 SU and ATS in its last four games at home, and is a three-point favorite over the Eagles on Monday.

Indianapolis is 5-2 SU and ATS in its last seven games against opponents from the NFC, per NFLOdds.ca
