Eagles vs. 49ers odds, preview, pick

Philadelphia is an underdog, but the Odds Shark computer believes they can win.

Rob Carr

The Philadelphia Eagles are 5-1 straight up and against the spread in their last six games against the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles hope to continue that success this Sunday visiting the 49ers as an underdog and the computer is picking them to extend San Francisco’s losing skid to three. The Odds Shark computer is predicting a 33-30 Eagles win.

Philadelphia is a 5.5-point underdog on Sunday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com despite a 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS record in its last seven games on the road. Winning the game outright in San Francisco will be tough, but the Eagles can certainly keep it close as a 5.5-point dog.

All three of Philadelphia’s first three wins have followed the same script; fall behind early and surge back for the win late. Philadelphia erased a 17-0 deficit against Jacksonville, a 20-6 deficit against Indianapolis and a 17-7 deficit against Washington to win all three games and go 2-1 ATS in the process.

The Eagles average 33.7 points per game on offense and are 10-1 SU and 7-3-1 ATS over their last 11 regular season games overall.

San Francisco hosts Philadelphia at 4:25pm ET this Sunday in its second game at Levi’s Stadium. The Niners haven’t lost three in a row since opening the 2010 season with five losses.

While slow starts have plagued the Eagles, sloppy finishes have caused the 49ers to get out to a 1-2 SU and ATS start to the season. San Francisco has outscored its opponents 59-16 in the first half this season only to be outscored 52-3 in the second halves of those games.

The second half won’t get any easier this week against the late-blooming Eagles.

The OVER is 7-1 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and 8-2 in Philadelphia’s last 10 games on the road. Sunday’s total is set at 50.5 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

If the first three weeks of the season are any indication, San Francisco should take a big lead in the first half and lose it in the second. Of course, both of these coaches will be grilling their teams this week about putting in a full 60-minute effort.

Regardless of how it plays out, this should be a fairly even matchup between two of the NFC’s best teams, providing some value on the team getting the points at Philadelphia +5.5
