2015 Australian Open betting lines favor Djokovic, Serema Williams

Novak Djokovic is favored to win his fifth Australian Open in the past eight years, while Serema Williams is favored in womens tennis betting.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Novak Djokovic has won the Australian Open three times in the last four years and four times in the last seven years.

Djokovic will be looking for his eighth Grand Slam title and his fifth Australian Open title this month in Melbourne as the betting favorite.

Going off at 1/1 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, Novak Djokovic is the odds-on favorite to win. The No. 1 ranked player in the world finished with seven singles titles last season including one Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

With a history of success in this tournament and a chip on his shoulder after being deprived of his fourth straight Australian Open title here last year, Djokovic is a worthy favorite coming into this event.

Roger Federer picked up his 1000th match win and his 83rd career singles title last week in Brisbane. Continuing to defy age and his critics, Federer keeps playing at a high level and is coming off a 2014 season with five singles titles.

Federer has won the Australian Open four times before, but his most recent win in this tournament came back in 2010. He will be going off at 5/1 on the tennis betting lines to make his way back to the top this year.

After winning the U.S. Open for his first Grand Slam title back in 2012 and the Wimbledon title in 2013, Andy Murray failed to build on that momentum with an injury-plagued and disappointing season in 2014. Murray will be looking to make the most of a fresh start in 2015 with a deep run in the Australian Open going off at 7/1 to win the event at the sportsbooks.

Rafael Nadal (10/1) isn’t expected to be at 100% fitness for the Australian Open, but he is always a threat regardless any time he is on the court.

Nadal won the Australian Open back in 2009 and has won eight Grand Slam titles since then, but only three of those wins have come outside of the French Open on clay.

Other players that could compete on the 2015 Australian Open odds include defending champion Stan Wawrinka (12/1), Kei Nishikori (12/1), Grigor Dimitrov (20/1), Juan Martin Del Potro (33/1) and Milos Raonic (33/1).
