Falcons vs. Saints 2015 odds: Atlanta road betting favorites vs. New Orleans Thursday

The Atlanta Falcons go on the road looking to remain undefeated against the home underdog New Orleans Saints Thursday night.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons are 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread through the first five games of the regular season. The Falcons will try to add another win against a division rival this Thursday night when they visit the New Orleans Saints.

Atlanta is a 3.5-point road favorite, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Saints have been a home underdog just seven times over the last decade and are 4-3 SU and ATS in those seven instances.

The Falcons couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2015 season, improving to 5-0 SU with their overtime win over the Washington Redskins last week. The 25-19 win marked the first time this season that Atlanta didn't cover the spread, failing to do so as a 7-point favorite at home. Running back Devonta Freeman had another big game last week, racking up 153 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.

In two road games so far this season, the Falcons are 2-0 SU and ATS. Atlanta is just 2-7 SU over its last nine road games against New Orleans per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Failing to build on the momentum of their 26-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys the week before, the Saints were crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles 39-17 on Sunday. The loss dropped the Saints to 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS on the season.

Allowing 28.6 points per game on defense while scoring only 20.6 points per game, not much is going right for New Orleans this year. The Saints are 1-6 SU and ATS in their last seven games at home.

Thursday night’s total is set at 51.5 points. The total has gone OVER in each of New Orleans’ last six games as a home underdog.

The Saints have mustered only one win on the season, and that came against a struggling and injury ridden Dallas Cowboys team in overtime. New Orleans should be fired up taking on a division rival at home on Thursday night, but with the way the Falcons are playing this season they should be able to pick up a win and cover on the road.
