Chargers vs. Packers odds 2015: Green Bay double-digit betting favorites

The Green Bay Packers look to keep their season rolling at home as sizeable betting favorites against the struggling San Diego Chargers.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are a perfect 5-0 straight up and against the spread through their first five games of the season. The Packers will try to stay perfect with another win and cover this Sunday hosting the San Diego Chargers at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay is a 10.5-point home favorite, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 12 games at home, the Packers are 12-0 SU and 9-2-1 ATS.

The Packers entered the season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and their play through the first five games of the season has done nothing but solidify their spot as a serious contender.

Fans and bettors knew that Aaron Rodgers would have the offense going strong, but the surprise of the season so far has been how well the team has played on defense. Green Bay ranks third in the NFL in scoring defense allowing 16.2 points per game against.

If the Packers continue to play this well on both sides of the ball the wins and covers are likely to keep pouring in. Green Bay is 6-0 SU and ATS in its last six games against the Chargers per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Four of San Diego’s five games this season have been decided by five points or less including last Monday night’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Losing the game 24-20 on the last play of the game, San Diego fell to 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS on the season.

San Diego’s defense continues to hamper the team, ranking 23rd in the NFL by allowing 26.8 points per game. The Chargers have given up at least 24 points in every game this season, and now they are tasked with facing one of the best offenses in the game this week.

Sunday’s total is set at 50.5 points. The OVER is 7-0 in Green Bay’s last seven games heading into a bye week.

The Chargers have kept games close this season with good play on offense, and they may do so again this Sunday. But with Green Bay playing at such a higher level and having nothing to look ahead to with the bye week coming up, the Packers look poised for another big win and cover at home this week.
