Jets vs. Patriots 2015 odds: New England big betting favorite vs New York

The New England Patriots look to remain undefeated hosting the New York Jets this Sunday afternoon as a big favorite on the NFL odds board.

Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots haven't lost a game at home in the month of October since back in 2005, going 19-0 straight up and 13-5-1 against the spread in their last 19 October home games. The Patriots will try to extend that streak this Sunday hosting the New York Jets at Foxborough.

New England is a 9-point favorite at home according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Patriots have been the betting favorite in 26 of their last 27 games against the New York Jets.

Beating the Colts by a final score of 34-27, New England failed to cover the spread as an 8.5-point favorite, falling to 3-1-1 ATS on the season while improving to 5-0 SU.

But as was the case in New England's 7-point win over Pittsburgh and 8-point win over Buffalo, the Patriots held a double-digit lead late in the fourth quarter and never seemed to be in imminent danger of losing the game. Tom Brady is in complete control of an offense averaging 325.2 passing yards per game and 36.6 points per game.

The Patriots have enjoyed success against the Jets in recent years with a 7-1 SU record in their last eight games against New York according to the OddsShark NFL Database. But New England is 0-4 ATS over its last four games against the Jets, which have all been decided by a field goal or less.

The New York Jets are off to an excellent start to the 2015 season with a 4-1 SU and ATS record placing them firmly atop the early AFC wild card race.

But while the Jets have looked great so far, all four of their wins have come against teams that are at or below .500 on the season. An upset win over the New England Patriots would serve as a statement game that this team is the real deal.

Sunday’s total is set at 48 points. The OVER is 9-2 in the last 11 games between New England and New York.

New York may be untested so far this season, but the Jets have passed the eye test so far. In what should be a good division rivalry game, take the nine points on the Jets to keep it close.
