Packers vs. Broncos 2015 odds: Denver home underdogs vs Green Bay Sunday

Two of the NFL’s five remaining undefeated teams collide when the Denver Broncos host the Green Bay Packers as small home underdogs on Sunday.

James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

The home team has gone 6-2 straight up and against the spread in the last eight games between the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are hoping that trend continues this week when they host the Packers Sunday night.

Denver is a three-point home underdog according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last seven games as a home underdog, the Broncos are 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS.

The Broncos have been one of the most widely debated teams in the NFL this season. Denver’s defense is clearly elite, ranking best in the league in total yards against and passing defense and second in scoring defense allowing only 17 points per game.

But many fans and bettors wonder how far the team can go with Peyton Manning under center as the veteran is struggling through one of the worst seasons of his career. Despite Manning’s struggles, the Broncos are 6-0 SU and 4-1-1 ATS this season.

Since 2003 the Denver Broncos are 10-2 SU and ATS in their last 12 games coming off of a bye week, per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Green Bay entered its bye week with a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS record, and most consider this the Packers the team to beat in the NFC. Aaron Rodgers has been extremely efficient with 15 touchdown passes and only two interceptions this season, and he’s had the support of a vastly improved defense. Allowing only 16.8 points per game, Green Bay has the best scoring defense in the NFL.

Like Denver, the Packers have enjoyed plenty of success after bye weeks with an 8-1 SU and 8-0-1 ATS record in their last nine games after one.

Sunday’s total is set at 45.5 points. The total has gone OVER in five of the last seven games between these two teams.

It doesn’t get much better than this. Two of the NFL’s best teams, both undefeated, playing in primetime each coming off a bye week with plenty of time to prepare. In what figures to be a close matchup between two evenly-matched teams, the edge would seemingly go to Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and the Packers at -3.
