Lions vs. Seahawks 2015 odds: Detroit Monday night betting underdog at Seattle

The Detroit Lions will try to pick up their first win of the season on the road Monday night as betting underdogs against the Seattle Seahawks.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions are 0-5 straight up and 1-4 against the spread over their last five games. To snap out of their losing streak this week, the Lions will have to solve one of the league's toughest home teams when they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

Detroit is a 9.5-point underdog on Monday night according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Seattle is 7-0 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in its last seven games as a home favorite of a touchdown or more.

After going 11-5 SU in 2014, the Detroit Lions entered the 2015 season with high hopes. But those hopes have not materialized early this season with an 0-3 SU and ATS start. Nothing has worked for the Lions thus far as the offense is averaging just 18.7 points per game and the defense is allowing 27.7 points per game. Detroit was stymied by two tough defenses over the last two weeks and faces another elite defense this Monday night.

The Lions are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine October road games with three outright upsets over that stretch per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The Seattle Seahawks also got off to a slow start this season at 0-2 SU and ATS, but bounced back nicely last week with a 26-0 home win over the Chicago Bears. With Kam Chancellor ending his holdout, the Seahawks received a nice boost on defense.

Still, the team's one win came against a Chicago team that was without Jay Cutler under center, so the Seahawks defense will be out to make a statement against a stronger offense this week. Running back Marshawn Lynch will be out with a hamstring injury on Monday night.

Monday night’s total is currently set at 43 points. The UNDER is 2-0 in Seattle’s last two games and 3-1 in Detroit’s last four.

Seattle is 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in its last seven games against NFC North opponents. The 9.5-point spread is a big one to cover, but Seattle’s historic dominance at home coupled with Detroit’s struggles on both sides of the ball this season make the Seahawks look like a reliable favorite on Monday night.
