Colts vs. Texans 2015 odds: Indianapolis rare betting underdog vs AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts will go for their third straight win against a divisional opponent this Thursday night on the road against the Houston Texans.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts are 15-0 straight up and 12-2-1 against the spread in their last 15 games against AFC South opponents. The Colts visit the Houston Texans in hopes of continuing that dominance this Thursday night.

Indianapolis is a 1-point betting underdog on Thursday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Colts had been favored in each of their previous 14 games against division rivals.

The Colts may have kept their divisional winning streak alive over the last two weeks, but they haven't earned many style points in doing so. Andrew Luck led the Colts to a 35-33 win on the road against Tennessee, and then with Luck out, the team scratched out a 16-13 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

This Thursday night's quarterback situation is still unclear with Andrew Luck and Matt Hasselbeck both being listed as questionable on the injury report. Luck believes he will be ready to go, but if he and Hasselbeck aren't, the Colts will be down to third-stringer Josh Johnson under center.

Indianapolis is 0-5 ATS over its last five games per the OddsShark NFL Database.

For the Houston Texans, nothing has been going right in 2015. The team is off to a 1-3 SU and ATS start and is averaging only 19.3 points per game; and many of those points have come in garbage time after falling behind to Kansas City 27-9 in Week 1 and 42-0 to Atlanta last week.

With inconsistent quarterback play and key injuries to the wide receiving corps, the issues on offense won’t be quickly fixed. The Texans are 1-7 SU in their last eight games played in the month of October.

Thursday night’s total is set at 44.5 points. The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Indianapolis’ last 11 games.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position in Indianapolis, it is difficult to guess who will play and how game-ready they will be. Still, Houston’s inability to get anything going on offense makes it hard to trust the Texans as a small favorite, especially if Luck ends up being able to start. Lean toward the Colts as a small road underdog in what could be another ugly win.
