49ers vs. Giants 2015 odds: San Francisco TD betting underdog vs. New York

The New York Giants will go for their third straight win this Sunday as touchdown favorites at home against the reeling San Francisco 49ers.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers are 2-7 straight up and 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games. The Niners will try to stop the bleeding this Sunday night when they visit the New York Giants in East Rutherford.

San Francisco is a 7-point betting underdog on the road, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 12 games as a betting underdog, the 49ers are 3-9 SU and 3-8-1 ATS.

At this point, San Francisco’s 20-3 win over Minnesota back in Week 1 feels like ancient history. Since then, the 49ers are 0-3 SU and ATS, and have been outscored 107 to 28.

While the defense has its share of issues, too, the biggest problem plaguing the 49ers at the moment is the play of quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick threw four interceptions in a 47-7 loss to Arizona, and looked nervous and gun-shy in the team’s 17-3 loss to Green Bay.

Kaepernick and the 49ers will try to get back on track on the road this week against New York. San Francisco is 1-4 SU and ATS in its last five road games per the OddsShark NFL Database.

After blowing 10-point fourth quarter leads in back-to-back games against the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons to start the season, the Giants have steadied the ship with back-to-back double-digit wins.

Last week’s 24-10 road win over Buffalo was a statement win for the Giants. They looked sharp on defense and closed out the game strongly to secure the upset as the 6.5-point road dog. New York is 6-1 SU in its last seven home games in the month of October.

Sunday night’s total is currently set at 47 points. The UNDER is 7-0 in the last seven games that San Francisco has played against opponents in the NFC East.

One of the most difficult things for a quarterback to overcome is a lack of confidence, and that appears to be what Kaepernick is suffering through right now. Until he gets his game back on track or the 49ers make a change at quarterback, San Francisco won’t be a reliable pick, making the Giants the choice as a 7-point favorite on Sunday night.
