Bills vs. Jets 2015 odds: Buffalo looking for TNF betting upset at Jets

The New York Jets can strengthen their hold on a playoff spot in the AFC Wild Card race with a win as favorites on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are 3-0 straight up and against the spread in their last three games against the New York Jets. The Bills could improve their playoff hopes immensely with an upset win this Thursday night in East Rutherford.

Buffalo is a 2.5-point road underdog on Thursday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This marks the seventh straight time that the spread has fallen within 2.5 and 3.5 points in this head-to-head series.

With a 33-17 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 4-4 SU and ATS on the season. The Bills play five of their next six games on the road, but none will be more important to the team’s playoff chances than this Thursday night’s game against the Jets.

Buffalo is 5-1 ATS in its last six games as a betting underdog.

A win in Thursday’s game would give Buffalo its first win streak of the season. The Bills are 0-4 SU and ATS in their last four games coming off a win the week before per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The New York Jets held on for a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday but failed to cover the spread as a 7.5-point favorite with a 28-23 final. New York currently holds the top AFC Wild Card spot with a 5-3 SU and 4-3-1 ATS record.

The Jets have played well this year, but have also been the beneficiary of a soft schedule as seven of their eight games have come against opponents that are currently at or below .500 on the season. The team is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games as a home favorite.

Thursday night’s total is set at 42.5 points. The OVER is 5-0 in the Jets’ last five home games against the Bills.

Buffalo’s bye week came at the right time to give quarterback Tyrod Taylor the chance to recover. With Taylor back under center, the Bills have enough firepower on offense to give Buffalo the edge and get Rex Ryan an upset win against his old team.
