Vikings vs. Falcons 2015 odds: Atlanta slim betting favorite against Minnesota

The Atlanta Falcons will try to break out of a three-game losing streak this Sunday hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons are 2-4 straight up and 0-6 against the spread over their last six games. The Falcons host the Minnesota Vikings in hopes of getting back on track this Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Atlanta is a 1-point home favorite over Minnesota according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The betting favorite is 6-2 SU in the last eight games between the Falcons and the Vikings.

It’s been a tale of two seasons for the Atlanta Falcons, who started the 2015 campaign off with a 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS record. Since that hot start, the Falcons are 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS over their last five games. To make matters worse, those four losses came against New Orleans, Tampa Bay, San Francisco and an Indianapolis team without Andrew Luck. Atlanta is averaging just 17.6 points per game over its last five games.

The Falcons are 11-4 SU in their last 15 games as a home favorite in November, but 0-3 SU in the last three instances per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Nothing was working for the Minnesota Vikings in last Sunday’s 30-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The defense didn’t have an answer for Aaron Rodgers, and the offense was held totally in check as Adrian Peterson was held to just 45 yards on 13 carries.

At this point, the game looks like an outlier; Minnesota was 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS in its previous eight games, with the defense allowing only 16.8 points per game over that stretch. The Vikings are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games coming off of a loss.

Sunday’s total is set at 45.5 points. The UNDER is 11-2 in Atlanta’s last 13 home games in the month of November.

Considering how well the Vikings have played this season, seeing them as an underdog this week is a bit surprising. Atlanta has struggled with sub-par teams over the last two months, so going up against a team as well-rounded as the Vikings doesn’t look like a recipe for success.

Look for Minnesota to bounce back from last week’s disappointing loss with a win and cover over the struggling Falcons this Sunday afternoon.
