Broncos vs. Colts 2015 odds: Denver, Manning betting favorites in Indianapolis

Peyton Manning returns to Indianapolis on Sunday as the Denver Broncos take on the Indianapolis Colts as road betting favorites.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos are just 1-7 straight up and 0-8 against the spread in their last eight games against the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos will look to turn things around and stay undefeated this Sunday when they visit the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Denver is a five-point road favorite this Sunday afternoon according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 12 games as a road favorite the Denver Broncos are 9-3 SU and 8-3-1 ATS.

By virtually all statistical measures, the Denver Broncos have the best defense in the NFL this season. But any doubt of that fact was removed last Sunday when the Broncos made Aaron Rodgers look completely pedestrian in their 29-10 home win over the Green Bay Packers.

The headlines this week will focus on Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis, but the real key to this game will be this defense going up against a struggling Andrew Luck.

The Broncos are 8-1 SU in their last nine games coming off a win as an underdog per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The Indianapolis Colts picked up another backdoor cover thanks to a frantic fourth quarter comeback on Monday night against the Carolina Panthers, but eventually lost the game 29-26 in overtime.

The Colts are 0-3 SU and 2-1 ATS over their last three games, and while all three losses came by a final score of seven points or less, the team trailed by at least 14 points in all three games.

A defense like Denver’s isn’t likely to let the Colts back into the game should they fall into another big hole in this one. Indianapolis is 5-13 ATS in its last 18 home games in November.

Sunday’s total is set at 45 points. The OVER is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between the Colts and the Broncos.

Peyton Manning can pass Brett Favre for the most wins ever by a starting quarterback with a win this Sunday. It would be somewhat fitting to see him do it against his old team in the city where he picked up the lion’s share of those wins.

With the way Denver’s defense is playing, expect the Broncos to get that win and cover at -5.
