Bears vs. Chargers odds 2015: San Diego favored on MNF betting lines

Two underachieving teams hope to break out of losing streaks this Monday night when the underdog Chicago Bears visit the favored San Diego Chargers.

The Chicago Bears are 5-1 straight up and against the spread in their last six games against the San Diego Chargers dating back to 1993. Chicago hopes that history will continue when it visits the Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium this Monday night.

Chicago is a 4.5-point road underdog, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This is the 13th straight game in which the Bears are going off as the betting underdog.

No one was expecting much from the Chicago Bears this season in a rebuilding year, and the team was especially bad in getting off to an 0-3 SU and ATS start. But since then, the Bears have actually been fairly competitive with a 2-2 SU and 3-1 ATS record. All four of those games were decided by a field goal or less including two upset wins over AFC West teams, Oakland and Kansas City.

In their last five games as an underdog in the month of November, Chicago is 0-5 SU and ATS per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Like Chicago, the San Diego Chargers have a propensity for close games this season, with all but one of the team’s games being decided by eight points or less. Unfortunately for San Diego, the Chargers have been on the wrong side of many of those losses, with a 2-6 SU and 3-5 ATS record on the season -- including four straight outright losses.

Philip Rivers is enjoying a strong season with 344 passing yards per game and 18 passing touchdowns, but it hasn’t translated to wins for the Chargers thus far. San Diego is 0-5 ATS in its last five games coming off a cover.

Monday night’s total is set at 49 points. The OVER is 7-1 in Chicago’s last eight November road games.

Both of these teams have trouble finding the win column and both tend to keep their games close. So, in a game that figures to be another close one for both sides, the 4.5 points that Chicago is getting as a road underdog look very valuable. San Diego is just 5-14 ATS over its last 19 games and 1-7 ATS in its last eight games as a favorite.
