Vikings vs. Cardinals 2015 odds: Streaking Arizona TNF betting favorites

The Arizona Cardinals will be looking to extend their winning streak this Thursday at home as betting favorites against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals are 11-2 straight up and 8-5 against the spread in their last 13 games at home. The Cardinals will try to build on that home field success this Thursday night at University of Phoenix Stadium hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

Arizona is a 9-point betting favorite over the Vikings at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The betting underdog is 3-4 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings between the Vikings and the Cardinals.

As long as Carson Palmer is healthy, the Cardinals keep winning football games. Since Week 8 of the 2013 season, the Cardinals are 23-4 SU and 18-8-1 ATS in games that Palmer has started under center. Last week’s 27-3 win and cover over the St. Louis Rams extended the Cardinals’ current winning streak to six games, and brought the team’s record to 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS on the 2015 season so far.

This game will mark just the third time since 2009 that Arizona has gone off as a favorite of eight points or more. The Cardinals are 6-0 SU and 3-3 ATS in their last six games as a favorite of eight points or more per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Suffering a 38-7 blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week, the Minnesota Vikings took their third double-digit loss of the season and their second in the last three weeks. Minnesota had been riding a 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS streak over its previous eight games before hitting its current 1-2 SU and ATS slump.

The success of the Vikings always boils down to the effectiveness of Adrian Peterson; Minnesota is 0-3 SU and ATS in games the running back has rushed for under 50 yards this season and 6-0 SU and ATS in games he’s rushed for over 100 yards.

Thursday night’s total is set at 46.5 points. The UNDER is 9-2-2 over Minnesota’s last 13 games overall.

The Cardinals rank fourth in the NFL in both overall defense and rushing defense. With a scheme and personnel capable of containing Adrian Peterson, the Cardinals should deliver the Vikings another blowout loss and cover the big 8.5-point spread at home on Thursday.
