Falcons vs. Panthers 2015 odds: Streaking Carolina big Week 14 betting chalk

The Carolina Panthers will try to keep their perfect season intact this Sunday afternoon as favorites hosting the Atlanta Falcons.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers are 16-0 straight up and 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 regular season games. The Panthers are one of the biggest favorites on the board this Sunday to keep that winning streak alive at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

Carolina is an 8.5-point home favorite at Bank of America Stadium this Sunday afternoon according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In the team’s last nine games as a favorite of a touchdown or more, the Panthers are 7-1-1 ATS.

On a day where Carolina’s usually rock-solid defense couldn’t get a stop, the offense picked up the slack and led the Panthers to a 41-38 shootout win on the road against the New Orleans Saints.

Carolina failed to cover the spread as a 5.5-point road dog, but improved to 12-0 SU and still boasts an impressive 9-3 mark against the spread. Cam Newton is enjoying an MVP-caliber season and has led the Panthers to 31.1 points per game on offense.

The Panthers have proven to be one of the league’s toughest home teams down the stretch of the season in recent years. Carolina is 15-3 SU and 13-4-1 ATS in its last 18 December home games per the OddsShark NFL Database.

At this point in the season, Atlanta’s 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS start has long been forgotten. The Falcons are 0-8 ATS over their last eight games and 1-6 SU over their last seven games including a current five-game losing streak.

Quaterback Matt Ryan has lost his way in recent weeks with nine interceptions over the team’s last six games. Atlanta is 1-4 SU and ATS in its last five games against the Panthers.

Sunday’s total is set at 47 points. The UNDER is 8-2 in Carolina’s last 10 games as a home favorite in December.

After being embarrassed last week allowing 38 points, Carolina’s defense should be motivated to bounce back this week. And in general, the Panthers aren’t likely to overlook this game as they try to keep their perfect season intact. Look for Carolina to continue its dominance with a win and cover at home on Sunday.
