Broncos vs. Steelers 2015 odds: Pittsburgh solid betting favorite against Denver

The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to stay hot this Sunday afternoon at home as betting favorites against the Denver Broncos.

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 9-0 straight up and against the spread in their last nine games played in the month of December. The Steelers put that streak of success on the line this Sunday afternoon at home against the Denver Broncos.

Pittsburgh is a 6.5-point betting favorite at Heinz Field for Sunday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The betting favorite is just 2-5 ATS in the last seven games between the Steelers and the Broncos.

With Ben Roethlisberger healthy under center, the Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. That offense was on display again last week in a 33-20 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals, which also served to boost their odds to win Super Bowl 50.

Pittsburgh has scored at least 30 points in each of its last five games and is 3-1 SU and ATS averaging 34.5 points per game over the team’s last four games. The Steelers will put their offense to the test against one of the NFL’s best defenses this week against the Broncos.

In their last four games coming off consecutive wins, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-4 SU and 0-3-1 ATS per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The defense has been the star of the Denver Broncos all season long, but the offense has been even less effective than it was early in the season over the last five weeks.

Denver is averaging just 17.4 points per game over its last five games, including an ugly offensive performance in a 15-12 loss at home to the Oakland Raiders last week. Still, with a defense allowing only 17.5 points per game, the Broncos are 10-3 SU and 7-5-1 ATS on the season. Denver is 4-0 SU and ATS in its last four games as a road underdog.

Sunday’s total is set at 45 points. The OVER is 11-1 in Denver’s last 12 games against AFC North opponents.

Denver has lost only three games this season, and two of those losses came by a field goal. The Broncos should be able to keep the game close with their defense and cover the spread as a 6.5-point underdog on the road this Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
