Cardinals vs. Eagles 2015 odds: Arizona rolls into Philly as betting favorite

The Philadelphia Eagles will try to stay in the hunt for the NFC East title with a win Sunday as home underdogs against the Arizona Cardinals.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals are 7-3 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games in the month of December. Currently riding a seven-game winning streak, the Cardinals will try to make it eight straight wins this Sunday night on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Arizona is a 3.5-point road favorite on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 10 games as a road favorite, the Arizona Cardinals are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS.

What makes Arizona so dangerous is its ability to win games in different ways. Over the team’s last three games, the defense has allowed only 12 points per game, picking up the slack as the offense scored 23 points per game.

In the four games to start this seven-game win streak, the defense allowed 25.3 points per game; but the offense led the way with 33.3 points per game. It’s hard to beat this team on both sides of the ball, which has led to Arizona’s 11-2 SU and 7-6 ATS record on the season.

Historically, the Cardinals have enjoyed success against the Philadelphia Eagles. Arizona is 4-1 SU and 4-0-1 ATS in its last five games against the Eagles per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The Philadelphia Eagles followed up their shocking 35-28 road win over New England with another win over an AFC East opponent, topping the Bills 23-20 at home. In many divisions, Philadelphia’s two-game surge might be too little too late, but in the NFC East its given the Eagles a share of first place in the division despite a pedestrian 6-7 SU and ATS record.

Philadelphia is 10-5 SU and 11-4 ATS in its last 15 games as an underdog in December.

Sunday night’s total is set at 51 points. The UNDER is 3-0 in Arizona’s last three games and 5-1 in Philadelphia’s last six games against NFC West opponents.

While the Arizona Cardinals are the superior team in this matchup, the Eagles have a lot more to play for fighting for their playoff lives. With added motivation and home field advantage, the Eagles could keep it close and cover the spread as a 3.5-point home underdogs.
