Patriots vs. Jets 2015 odds: New England betting favorite at New York

The New York Jets look to keep their playoff hopes alive with an upset win over the New England Patriots as home underdogs this Sunday.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets are 6-4 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games at home. The Jets hope to use home-field advantage to defeat the New England Patriots this Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.

New York is a 3.5-point home underdog on Sunday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The favored team is 3-0 SU in each of the last three games played between the Jets and the Patriots.

It hasn’t often been pretty, but the New York Jets have continued to win football games to keep themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot. With a 19-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys last week, the Jets improved to 9-5 SU and 7-5-2 ATS on the season with a 4-0 SU and 3-0-1 ATS record over their last four games.

New England is the only team on New York’s schedule that has a record over .500 this season, and the Patriots beat the Jets 30-23 in New England when the two teams last met.

The Jets have fared well against the spread when facing the Patriots with a 5-1-1 ATS record in the last seven meetings in this series, but are just 1-6 SU over that stretch per the OddsShark NFL Database.

After suffering back-to-back losses to the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles, the New England Patriots have put themselves back on track with back-to-back blowout wins over the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.

With a win this Sunday against the Jets, the Patriots would clinch home field throughout the playoffs and could afford to rest their injured players in Week 17 against Miami. The Patriots are 7-1 SU in their last eight games on the road.

Sunday’s total is set at 46 points. The OVER is 10-2 in the last 12 games between New England and New York.

The Jets have been playing very well, and they won’t go down without a fight. But against an offense of New England’s caliber, New York will likely have trouble keeping up. It’s a close call with the hook, but look for the Patriots to get the job done with a win and cover in East Rutherford on Sunday.
