Giants vs. Vikings 2015 odds: Favored Minnesota hosts New York Sunday night

The Minnesota Vikings can clinch a playoff berth this Sunday night with a win at home as favorites over the New York Giants.

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings are 6-1 straight up and against the spread in their last seven games as the betting favorite. The Vikings will try to clinch a playoff spot and pick up another cover as a favorite this Sunday night at home against the New York Giants.

Minnesota is a 6-point betting favorite at TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This is the first time that the Vikings have been favored by more than four points all season.

The Vikings ended a recent 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS skid with a convincing win last Sunday, beating the Chicago Bears 38-17 as a 4-point favorite at home. Minnesota has gone 9-4 SU and 11-2 ATS over its last 13 games, and all four of the team’s outright losses have come against strong teams in Denver, Green Bay, Seattle and Arizona.

The Vikings have consistently taken care of business against weak teams since losing to San Francisco in their season opener, and will try to clinch a playoff spot against another team with a losing record this week.

In the team’s last four games against NFC East opponents, the Minnesota Vikings are 4-0 ATS per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The New York Giants erased a big deficit against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, but eventually lost the game 38-35 to fall to 6-8 SU on the season. The Giants are now just 1-4 SU over their last five games, but have gone 3-2 ATS over that stretch and are a respectable 8-5-1 ATS on the season.

If Philadelphia beats Washington on Saturday night, New York will still be alive for the NFC East title with a win in this game. New York is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games against NFC North opponents.

Sunday night’s total is set at 50 points. The OVER is 6-2 in New York’s last eight games overall.

The biggest thing working against New York is the suspension of Odell Beckham Jr. for Sunday night’s game. With a weak rushing defense facing Adrian Peterson and the team’s best offensive weapon out, this is a tough spot for the Giants. The Vikings should pick up a win and cover at home as a 6-point favorite.
