Jets vs. Giants 2015 odds: Jets betting favorites in MetLife Stadium matchup

The New York Jets will be looking for their first win against the New York Giants since 1993 this Sunday in East Rutherford.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants are 5-0 straight up and 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games against the New York Jets. The Jets will try to snap that losing streak this Sunday afternoon in the stadium these two teams share, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The New York Jets are 2.5-point betting favorites in this interstate rivalry game. The line opened as a pick’em, but early action on the Jets has made the “road” team a 2.5-point favorite.

Since the beginning of the season, the New York Giants have been an extremely inconsistent team. After an 0-2 SU and 1-1 ATS start to the year, the Giants appeared to have turned a corner with a 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS record over their next three games.

But since then, New York is 2-4 SU and 3-2-1 ATS including a 20-14 loss on the road against the Washington Redskins last week. At 5-6 SU, the Giants are tied for first place in the NFC East.

Coming off a loss as the betting favorite, the New York Giants are 4-0 SU and ATS. The Giants are also 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Week 13 games per the OddsShark NFL Database.

The New York Jets have seen a 4-1 SU and ATS start to the season melt away with a 2-4 SU and 1-4-1 ATS record over the team’s last six games. The Jets looked good in last week’s 38-20 win over the Miami Dolphins though, and each of their next three games including this week’s game come against opponents with losing records.

New York will try to take advantage of this with a rare win against an NFC East opponent; the Jets are 4-17 SU in their last 21 games against this division.

The total for Sunday’s game is set at 45 points. The OVER is 6-1 in the Jets’ last seven games overall.

This is a tough one to call between two teams that are tough to get a read on. The Giants are 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six December home games though, and with a home crowd and a history of success against the Jets should be able to edge out an upset win.
