Seahawks vs. Vikings 2015 odds: Minnesota small betting underdog against Seattle

The Minnesota Vikings will be looking to improve their chances to make the postseason with a win this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings are 7-0 straight up and 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games in the month of December. The Vikings hope that trend will continue when they host the Seahawks this Sunday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium.

Minnesota is a 1-point home underdog on Sunday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This marks the first time in 2015 that the Vikings have been an underdog at home after being one three times in 2014.

Coming off a surprising 30-13 loss at home to the Green Bay Packers, the Minnesota Vikings bounced back nicely last week with a 20-10 road win over the Atlanta Falcons. Adrian Peterson rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns and the defense did its part in shutting down Atlanta’s offense.

With that win and cover, the Vikings improved to 8-2 SU and 9-1 ATS over their last 10 games, a stretch in which they’ve given up only 17.4 points per game.

The Vikings have been a home underdog 11 times since the start of the 2012 season. Minnesota is 8-3 SU and 9-2 ATS over that stretch per the OddsShark NFL Database.

On a day in which the defense wasn’t at its best, the Seattle Seahawks offense led the way in a 39-30 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday.

After throwing just 13 touchdown passes in his previous 10 games, Russell Wilson torched the Steelers for five touchdowns and 345 passing yards in the Seahawks win. This is usually the time of year that the Seattle Seahawks start rounding into form with a 15-3 SU and 16-2 ATS record in their last 18 December games.

Sunday’s total is set at 41.5 points. The UNDER is 9-1 in Seattle’s last 10 games played in the month of December.

Minnesota lives and dies by its running game, and Seattle happens to have a top five rushing defense in the NFL allowing only 92.9 rushing yards per game. With the offense showing signs of life and a defense capable of keeping Adrian Peterson in check, the Seahawks should continue their December dominance with a road win this Sunday over Minnesota.
