Mavericks vs. Thunder betting odds and game preview

The Oklahoma City Thunder will attempt to continue their run back into the postseason picture when they host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered the All-Star Break on a 3-0 SU and ATS run. The Thunder will try to stay hot coming out of the break when they host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena

Oklahoma City is a 5-point favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. With the roll the Thunder have been on offensively of late and home court advantage, Oklahoma City should be able to cover the spread at home against this talented Mavericks team.

Coming out of the break, the Thunder currently sit a half-game behind the Phoenix Suns for the eighth and final playoff spot in the deep Western Conference. To make the postseason, Oklahoma City will have to continue to play at the high level it was going into the break. With Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook healthy, the Thunder offense has been clicking with four double-digit wins over the team's last five games and a 115 points per game average over that stretch. Oklahoma City is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS over its last six games since going 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS in its previous five.

Since suffering through an 0-4 SU and ATS slump back in January, the Mavericks have rebounded nicely with a 6-2 SU and 4-3-1 ATS record over their last eight games. Dallas has one of the best offenses in the league averaging 106.3 points per game, and that offense could get a boost with the newly acquired Amar'e Stoudemire coming off the bench. After losing their previous 11 games to Oklahoma City, the Mavericks are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three games against the Thunder, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.

Thursday night's total for the Mavericks vs. Thunder betting matchup is set at 211.5 points. The OVER is 4-1 in Oklahoma City's last five games and 2-0 over the last two games between these two teams.

With two of the best offenses in the NBA taking the floor on Thursday night, this figures to be an exciting game with plenty of fireworks. At home, look for the Thunder to edge out the Mavericks and pull away late for the win and cover.
