Kentucky vs. Arkansas betting preview and matchup stats

Kentucky eyes SEC title and regular season perfection with a win on Sunday against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats are 33-0 SU this season with a 7-1-1 ATS record over their last nine games. The Wildcats are one win away from a perfect 34-0 SU season heading into the NCAA Tournament as they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the SEC Tournament championship game Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky is a 13.5-point favorite over Arkansas at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com for their SEC title game betting matchup. If Kentucky’s recent form and the last game between these two teams are any indication, Arkansas could struggle to keep this one within 13 points.

Since beating LSU by only two points back on Feb. 10 the Wildcats have hit another gear and are absolutely steamrolling their opponents. Averaging 78.3 points per game while allowing only 57.7 PPG, the Wildcats have beaten their opponents by an average of 20.6 points over their current 9-0 SU and 7-1-1 ATS run. An eight-point road win over Georgia was the only game over the last nine that Kentucky hasn’t won by at least 17.

The Razorbacks’ all-or-nothing attacking offensive style has led to some solid success of late with a 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS record over the team’s last 12 games. Unfortunately for Arkansas, the “nothing” side of the mentality was present in the team’s 84-67 road loss to Kentucky in February.

Bobby Portis and Michael Qualls lead an attack that averages 78.5 points per game and can compete with anyone on the right night; but Kentucky’s structure on defense could be too much for this group to overcome.

Before getting throttled in its last game against the Wildcats, Arkansas had enjoyed some success against Kentucky. The Razorbacks are 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six games against the Wildcats. The OVER is 5-2-1 in the last eight games of this head-to-head series according to the OddsShark College Basketball Database.

Clearly the best team in college basketball this season, Kentucky will in all likelihood be the betting favorite in every game it plays the rest of the way. The Wildcats aren’t invincible, but their structure and depth will make it hard for any opponent to beat them without a nearly perfect performance.
