NCAA Tournament odds: Round of 64 betting lines, trends, underdogs

A look at some of the odds, trends, and biggest underdogs in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 64.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

With a 15-0 SU and 13-2 ATS run to end the regular season Villanova earned itself a Big East title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. As a result, the Wildcats are one of the biggest favorites on the board in the Round of 64 against an overmatched 16-seed.

Villanova is listed as a 22.5-point favorite on Thursday over Lafayette. As one of the biggest underdogs on the board this week, Lafayette will try to take solace in the fact that Villanova is just 2-6 ATS in its last eight Round of 64 matchups and 0-4 ATS in its last four games as a favorite of 20 points or more.

Despite failing to secure a 1-seed, the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats are the biggest favorite on the board so far this week going off at -23 against No. 15 Texas Southern. Arizona went 11-0 SU and 9-2 ATS over its last 11 games and is 13-3 ATS in its last 16 games as a favorite. To make matters worse for Texas Southern, Arizona is 4-0 ATS in its last four games as a favorite of 20 points or more.

No. 10 Ohio State vs. No. 7 VCU on Thursday marks just the fifth instance since 2008 that a 10-seed is favored over a 7-seed with Ohio State entering the game as a 4-point favorite. The Buckeyes are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite but just 1-5 ATS in their last six March Madness games.

VCU on the other hand is a tournament darling with a 12-3 ATS record in its last 15 March Madness games and a 6-1 ATS record in its last seven Round of 64 matchups.

The No. 6 Butler Bulldogs are a slight underdog at +1.5 going up against No. 11 Texas at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Bulldogs are 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS in their last nine Round of 64 games and are 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a higher seed. Texas is 6-1 SU in its last seven games as a favorite but is just 0-3-1 ATS in its last four Round of 64 games.
