MLB betting: San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers preview and odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants continue their rivalry this Monday night in Los Angeles.

Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers are just 2-4 over their last six games since going 7-0 during their previous seven outings. The Dodgers will try to get back on track at home hosting the San Francisco Giants in a three-game series starting this Monday night at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles is a -110 favorite at home on Monday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com over San Francisco at +100. The Dodgers send Brett Anderson to the mound against Tim Lincecum and the Giants.

Entering a three-game series against the struggling Giants last week on a seven-game win streak, the Dodgers were expected to roll and were favored in all three games. Instead, the rivalry factor of the series shined through as the underdog Giants swept the favored Dodgers.

Back at home, Los Angeles will look to return the favor with a sweep of their own this week. Los Angeles is 8-1 at home so far this season with a 6-0 record over its last six games.

San Francisco lost eight straight games from April 10 through April 17, but the Giants are hoping to prove that those losing ways were an anomaly instead of the norm. The Giants were 3-1 in the four games before that losing streak and are 5-2 in the seven games since, including their sweep against the Dodgers.

San Francisco has played better in the underdog role this season with a 6-2 record as the betting underdog compared to a 2-9 record as a favorite.

Monday night's total for the Giants vs. Dodgers betting matchup is set at seven runs at the sportsbooks. The OVER is 7-4-3 in the last 14 games between Los Angeles and San Francisco according to the OddsShark MLB Database.

No matter where these two teams sit in the standings, the Dodgers and Giants always play each other tough with a 10-10 record against each other over the last 20 games. Only 3.5 games separate the first-place Dodgers from the last-place Giants in the NL West. This division could end up being a dogfight, and these divisional games will be key.

Madison Bumgarner vs. Clayton Kershaw is the scheduled matchup for Tuesday, and Ryan Vogelsong faces Zack Greinke on Wednesday.
