Masters Betting Preview: Rory McIlroy favored on odds to complete career grand slam

Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth lead the field of favorites heading into the Masters at Augusta this week.

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Rory McIlroy has won each of the last two majors on the PGA Tour with wins in the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. McIlroy will look to add a Masters win to his trophy collection this week at Augusta National.

Going off at 6/1 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, McIlroy is the odds-on favorite to win the Masters tournament. The top-ranked golfer in the world has played in only three events so far in 2015, finishing in the top 12 in each of the last two tournaments in which he has played. McIlroy is going off at 11/8 to finish in the top 5 in this tournament.

McIlroy's biggest threat in this tournament may be the red-hot Jordan Spieth, who is going off at 8/1 odds to win the event. Over his last three tournament appearances, Spieth has won the Valspar Championship and finished in second in both the Valero Texas Open and Shell Houston Open. With three straight top-two finishes, no one is hotter coming into the Masters.

Bubba Watson has won two major tournaments in his career, and both of them have come at Augusta. Watson has won two of the last three Masters tournaments with wins in 2012 and 2014. The American has been in good form this season with four top-15 finishes including two top-three finishes in his last three tournament appearances.

Watson is going off at 11/1 on the odds to win the Masters at the sportsbooks.

Tiger Woods returns to action this week and claims to finally be feeling healthy coming off an injury that has forced him to miss most of the PGA season. Woods has been stuck on 14 major wins since 2008, and golf fans and bettors are wondering whether or not he will ever return to his former glory. Tiger is going off at 25/1 to win the Masters this week.

Other potential contenders on the 2015 Masters betting lines include Dustin Johnson and Jason Day at 14/1, Henrik Stenson at 20/1, Adam Scott, Jimmy Walker and Phil Mickelson at 22/1, and Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler at 28/1.
