NBA Betting: Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Clippers odds, matchup stats

After winning Game 5 at home, the Houston Rockets will try to break out of their road slump in Game 6 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Los Angeles Clippers are 7-2 SU over their last nine home games. The Clippers can punch their ticket to the NBA Western Conference Finals this Thursday night with another home win against the Houston Rockets.

Los Angeles is an 8-point favorite in Game 6 against the Rockets, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In both Games 3 and 4 at home, Los Angles was a 6.5-point favorite.

After winning Game 3 124-99 and following that up with another dominant performance in a 128-95 win in Game 4, the Clippers actually found themselves as a road favorite in Game 5. However, the Rockets responded in their first elimination game of the postseason with a home blowout of their own, topping Los Angeles 124-103 as a 3-point home underdog.

Now back at home, the Clippers will get another chance to close out the series, and will be plenty motivated to do just that to avoid a Game 7 on the road in Houston.

When a team has its back against the wall, it needs its best players to rise up and play their best. Houston's stars did exactly that in Game 5 as Dwight Howard scored 20 points with 15 rebounds and James Harden picked up a triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Houston is 0-3 SU and ATS over its last three playoff road games with three straight double-digit losses, and will need another great night out of its starters if it wants to force a Game 7.

The total has gone OVER in all five games between the Rockets and the Clippers in this series, according to the OddsShark NBA Database. Thursday's total for the Rockets vs. Clippers betting matchup is set at 220 points at the sportsbooks.

The Rockets showed in Game 5 that they weren't going to roll over in this series without a fight. But back in Los Angeles, the Clippers are going off as a clear favorite to get the job done. With back-to-back wins by over 20 points at home, Los Angeles should feel comfortable in the favorite role.
