NBA betting: Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors odds, matchup stats

Golden State hopes to continue its dominance over the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors are a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS over their last five games against the Houston Rockets. The Warriors hope to keep that trend going when they host the Rockets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night at Oracle Arena.

Golden State is a 10.5-point favorite for Tuesday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In the last four meetings between these two teams, Golden State has won by double digits.

There was some doubt swirling around the Golden State Warriors when the team fell down 2-1 to the Grizzlies in the second round. Questions about whether the Warriors’ issues had been solved were answered with an emphatic “no” when Golden State crushed Memphis by a combined score of 307-257 in Games 4, 5 and 6 to close out the series.

After going an uncharacteristic 4-for-21 (19 percent) from three-point range in Games 2 and 3, Stephen Curry bounced back over the Warriors’ 3-0 SU and ATS run with an 18-for-35 performance (51.4 percent) from behind the arc.

While Golden State may have faced some doubt in the last round, the Houston Rockets were left for dead. After being blown out in three of its first four games against the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston found itself as a three-point underdog in its own building in Game 5. The Rockets were also the betting underdog in Games 6 and 7, but three outright upsets later they have earned this spot in the conference finals.

Tuesday night’s total for the Rockets vs. Warriors betting matchup is set at 219 points at the sportsbooks. The UNDER is 6-1 in Golden State’s last seven games, according to the OddsShark NBA Database, while the OVER is 6-1 in Houston’s last seven games

One of the debates during the regular season was who should win NBA MVP honors between James Harden and Stephen Curry. Now we’ll get to see these two superstars settle it on the court. Golden State’s recent history against Houston could make the Warriors a favorite in every game in this series, but the Rockets showed their backers in the last round that they are quite comfortable in the underdog role.
