As expected, American Pharoah and Dortmund are the betting favorites on the morning of the 2015 Kentucky Derby. However, other horses are moving up and down the betting board as post time quickly approaches.
Kentucky Derby 2015 odds: Morning Line and Saturday betting update
Frosted and Firing Line are moving up the betting board as the start time for the Kentucky Derby draws closer.
American Pharoah is a 3/1 favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. As well, with $856,436 of the first $4,267,664 wagered "to win" at the track, American Pharoah is right around where he has been in the weeks leading up to the race after sitting at 5/2 on the morning line. Bettors don't seem to be deterred by American Pharoah's unfavorable post draw.
Sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com agree with American Pharoah's favored status as well, listing him at 13/5 on their odds to win the Kentucky Derby as of Saturday morning.
Fellow favorites Dortmund and Carpe Diem also haven't moved much from their early lines. Dortmund is a slightly longer shot at 4/1 currently compared to 3/1 on the morning line and Carpe Diem has moved slightly in the other direction coming down to 7/1 from an earlier line of 8/1 throughout the week.
Outside of the top three, a good amount of action has come in on Frosted with over $333,000 of the first $4,267,664 wagered on the race. Coming off the best run of his career in the Wood Memorial Stakes with Joel Rosario as his jockey, Frosted will team up with Rosario once again in search of a Kentucky Derby win. After going off at 15/1 on the morning line, Frosted has been bet down to 9/1 to win the race.
Also bet down is Firing Line at 8/1, who was previously going off at 12/1 on the morning line to win the Derby. Firing Line has at least placed in all five of his races and was second to Dortmund by only a head in two of his last three races.
Rounding out the top 10 with their current lines are Mubtaahij (12/1), Materiality (14/1), Danzig Moon (20/1), Upstart (21/1) and Ocho Ocho Ocho (24/1). International Star was scratched from the race this morning.
