Houston is a 10.5-point road underdog for Game 5 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This is just the fourth time since 2013 that Houston has been an underdog of 10 points or more, with the Rockets going 0-4 SU and 3-1 ATS in those games.
Nothing seems to elevate the game of the Houston Rockets quite like the fear of elimination. Houston had one of the most dominant first quarters in the shot clock era on Monday, jumping out to a 45-22 lead and never looking back en route to a 128-115 victory.
James Harden had 45 points in the win, including 33 points in the second half, and the Rockets are now 4-0 SU and ATS in elimination games this postseason with four straight double-digit wins as an underdog.
From Golden State's perspective, the loss in Game 4 seemed to have more to do with Houston playing great than the Warriors playing poorly. Houston's incredible 17-for-22 from the floor and 8-for-9 from three-point range in the first quarter put the Warriors in a 23-point hole that they couldn't overcome.
The Warriors are also happy to just get out of Houston healthy after suffering an injury scare when Steph Curry took an ugly fall in the second quarter. Curry returned for the second half and has been cleared as concussion-free. Golden State is 45-3 in 48 home games this season, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.
The total went OVER for the first time in the series in Game 4, breaking a streak of three straight UNDER results. Wednesday’s total for the Rockets vs. Warriors betting matchup is set at 216 points at the sportsbooks.
Houston has fought back from the brink of elimination before when everyone was ruling them out, coming back from a 3-1 series deficit in the last round against the Clippers. Golden State will try to end Houston's hopes and seal up this series at home.
