Eagles vs. Packers 2015 odds and lines: Betting preview and point spread

Two of the NFC’s top teams collide on Saturday night as the Green Bay Packers host the Philadelphia Eagles as home betting underdogs.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles are a perfect 4-0 straight up and against the spread over their last four preseason games with four straight double-digit victories. The Eagles face a tough preseason test this Saturday night when they visit the Green Bay Packers.

Philadelphia is a 3-point road favorite at Lambeau Field on Saturday night according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Eagles are 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three preseason road games, though.

Chip Kelly’s innovative, fast-paced offense works well in the regular season, but it arguably works even better during the preseason. With the entire team practicing how to run this offense, even the backups and third stringers can run the offense quickly and effectively.

This is especially difficult on opposing defenses when starting players have been subbed out. Over their last six preseason games, the Eagles have averaged 34.5 points per game with an average of 38 points per game so far in 2015.

The Packers had a four-game SU and ATS preseason winning streak snapped in last week’s 24-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, on a much more relevant note to the team’s Super Bowl hopes, star wide receiver Jordy Nelson was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

It will be interesting to see how this injury affects head coach Mike McCarthy’s personnel decisions in Saturday night’s game. While many teams play their starters fairly deep in the third game of the preseason, McCarthy might be hesitant to do so after already losing one of his star players for the year.

Saturday night’s total for the Eagles vs. Packers matchup is set at 48 points. No total seems to be set high enough for the Philadelphia Eagles during the preseason as the team has sent the total OVER in each of its last eight preseason games according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a Green Bay win.

Both the Packers and the Eagles enter the 2015 season with high expectations. The Packers are the current betting favorite to win the Super Bowl at 5/1 while the Eagles aren’t too far behind at 14/1. Two of the NFL’s best teams and offenses will be on display this Saturday night in Green Bay.
