The Atlanta Falcons are 4-0 straight up in their last four home games against NFC East opponents. The Falcons will try to make it five wins in a row as a home underdog on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
‘Monday Night Football’ odds, Week 1: Falcons, Niners home underdogs
The Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers both find themselves set as home underdogs for the “Monday Night Football” doubleheader.

Atlanta is going off as a 3-point betting underdog for Monday night at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons went just 3-5 SU and 4-4 ATS at home in 2014.
Since making the playoffs for three straight years and amassing a 36-12 SU regular season record over that stretch, the Atlanta Falcons are just 10-22 SU over the last two seasons.
The Falcons have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL, led by Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White; but the lack of a running game and a horrible defense has been too much for Atlanta to overcome in recent seasons. Atlanta is just 4-9 SU and 5-8 ATS over its last 13 games per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Philadelphia had a strong regular season in 2014 at 10-6 SU and ATS, but failed to keep that momentum going into the postseason. Chip Kelly has reloaded the Eagles on both offense and defense as Sam Bradford, DeMarco Murray and Kiko Alonso were all acquired this offseason. The new-look Eagles will try to break out of a 2-8 ATS slump in the team’s last 10 games as a favorite in September.
In what figures to be a shootout, look for the Eagles to win and cover as their defense should be able to come up with more stops throughout the game.
Monday night’s second game features the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Minnesota Vikings. The 49ers are a 2-point home underdog as game time approaches.
These two teams seem to be going in opposite directions. The Vikings have been one of the most hyped up teams of the preseason, going 4-1 SU and ATS with the starters looking sharp on both sides of the ball. San Francisco had a disastrous offseason in which it lost a handful of key personnel including coach Jim Harbaugh, running back Frank Gore, and linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland.
San Francisco’s current roster has been so bashed in the media that it should come out fired up to prove the world wrong on Monday. Go with the 49ers to pull off the upset at home.
