NFL odds 2015, Week 1: Patriots, Packers, Cowboys top favorites

New England, Green Bay and Dallas have emerged as the biggest betting favorites of the opening week of the NFL regular season.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

New England opens the season as a 7-point home favorite according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Preseason lines for this game had the Patriots as a 3-point favorite, but with Tom Brady's successful appeal lifting his suspension New England became a much bigger favorite. The Patriots are 13-1 straight up in their last 14 games as a regular season favorite. They open the season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

Pittsburgh is 7-2 ATS in its last nine regular season games as an underdog.

The Seattle Seahawks are 7-1 SU and ATS in their last eight games against division rivals. Seattle opens its season as a 4-point road favorite visiting the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

The Rams seem to have all of the pieces in place to contend for a playoff spot this season, but they will need to improve in games against divisional opponents. St. Louis is 2-9 SU in its last 11 games against NFC West foes according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

Green Bay opened as a 3.5-point favorite on the road against the Chicago Bears, but that line was quickly moved as bets poured in on the Packers. The Packers are now the biggest favorite on the board on Sunday going off at -6.5 at Chicago.

Chicago is 1-9 SU in its last 10 games against the Packers and has a 2-5 SU and ATS record in its last seven home games against division rivals.

The Dallas Cowboys open the season on Sunday Night Football hosting the New York Giants as a 6-point betting favorite. These two rivals have been pretty evenly matched in recent years with an 8-8 SU record against each other since 2007.

The Giants hold a 9-7 ATS edge over that stretch but are 1-3 ATS in their last four games against Dallas.

Finally, Monday Night Football features a doubleheader with a pair of road favorites at the sportsbooks, with Philadelphia (-3) at Atlanta and Minnesota (-2.5) at San Francisco.

Minnesota opened as a 4.5-point underdog and has moved all the way up to -2.5 with hype building around the team after a strong preseason. The Vikings are 5-1 SU in their last six games against San Francisco.
