Chiefs vs. Texans odds, NFL playoffs 2016: Kansas City Wild Card favorites at Houston

The Kansas City Chiefs will try to keep their hot streak alive this Saturday as road betting favorites visiting the Houston Texans.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are the hottest team in the AFC, with a 10-0 straight up and 7-3 against the spread record in their last 10 games. The Chiefs are on the road to take on the Houston Texans in the first game of Wild Card weekend play this Saturday afternoon.

Kansas City is a 3.5-point road favorite at NRG Stadium, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The road team is just 5-11 ATS in the last 16 games played on Wild Card weekend.

Since opening the season with a 1-5 SU and ATS skid, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t lost a game. Kansas City has reeled off 10 straight wins, averaging 27.8 points per game on offense while allowing only 12.8 points per game on defense over that stretch. The Chiefs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Houston Texans, including a 27-20 road win this season.

The Chiefs haven’t won a postseason game since going on the road to defeat the Houston Oilers back in 1994. Kansas City is 0-8 SU and ATS in its last eight playoff games per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Like Kansas City, the Houston Texans got off to a horrible start this season, going 2-5 SU and ATS out of the gate. But over the last nine games of the season, the Texans went 7-2 SU and ATS, giving up a microscopic 8.1 points per game in those seven wins, including five games of holding their opponent to only six points. Houston is 5-1 SU and ATS in its last six games coming off of an ATS win, and 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games at home.

Saturday’s total is set at 40 points. The OVER is 16-5 in Houston’s last 21 games as a home underdog and 7-2 in Kansas City’s last nine games as a road favorite.

Both of these teams enter this game red hot, and it could easily go either way. But getting 3.5 points at home against a team that hasn’t won a playoff game in over 20 years, the Texans look like a pretty good value play in Houston this Saturday.
