Seahawks vs. Vikings, 2016 NFL playoffs: Betting odds, spread, pick and Wild Card preview

Looking for a third straight trip to the Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks start their postseason as road favorites against the Minnesota Vikings.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks are 6-1 straight up and against the spread in their last seven games overall. The Seahawks will try to keep their hot streak going this Sunday on the road at TCF Bank Stadium against the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday’s early NFC Wild Card Game.

Seattle is the biggest favorite on the board this wild card weekend going off as 6-point chalk on the road, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 10 games as the betting underdog, the Vikings are 9-1 ATS, with four outright upsets.

With a 36-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Seattle’s regular season finale, the Seahawks wrapped up a dominant 6-1 SU and ATS run to end the season. Scoring 32 points per game over that stretch while allowing only 14 points per game, Seattle crushed opposing teams by an average of 18 points per game. And with a well-rested Marshawn Lynch returning this week, the offense could be even more dangerous this postseason.

The Seahawks are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three games against the Minnesota Vikings per the OddsShark NFL Database. To make matters worse for the Vikings, Seattle has won four straight Wild Card games.

The Minnesota Vikings quietly went about their business all season long, putting together an impressive 11-5 SU and 13-3 ATS campaign, led by a strong season from the defense and Adrian Peterson in the running game. The Vikings finished the year on a 3-0 SU and ATS run including a win over Green Bay last week to secure the NFC North title. At home against Seattle back on Dec. 6, Minnesota lost 38-7 in what was the team’s worst game of the season. The Vikings are 1-4 SU in their last five playoff games.

Sunday’s total is set at 41 points. The UNDER is 7-1 in Minnesota’s last eight games as an underdog in January and 4-0 in Seattle’s last four games overall.

Minnesota deserves respect for a fantastic season, but it’s difficult to pick against the battle-tested Seahawks. Seattle has navigated through the NFC to two straight conference titles, and looks poised to start another run with a win and cover this weekend.
