Broncos vs. Chargers 2016 odds: Denver set as road favorite at San Diego on Thursday night

The San Diego Chargers have managed to cover the posted spread in just three of their last 15 games at home as they host the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos are 9-1 straight up and 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games against the San Diego Chargers. The Broncos can earn a sixth straight win over their division rival this Thursday night in San Diego.

You can watch the game live on SB Nation.

Denver is a 3.5-point road favorite at Qualcomm Stadium at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Chargers have lost each of their last five games to the Broncos by at least seven points.

Last Sunday, the Broncos saw a 4-0 SU and ATS start to the season and a 9-0 SU win streak come to an end at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. Denver's defense played well in limiting Atlanta's high-powered offense to only 23 points, but the offense had its lowest output of the season at only 16 points.

Early reports indicate that Trevor Siemian will be a game-time decision for Thursday night's game after missing Sunday's game against Atlanta. Rookie Paxton Lynch would start again if Siemian is unable to go.

The Broncos have absolutely dominated their division foes on the road in recent years with a 15-0 SU and 14-1 ATS record in their last 15 road games against AFC West teams, per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Denver -3.5 / 45.5 Points

Trend: The Chargers are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games at home.

Trend: The Broncos are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against their division.

San Diego entered last Sunday’s game against Oakland with a remarkable season split, having outscored opponents by 49 points in the first half of games while being outscored by 30 points in the second half of games.

The Chargers’ second-half woes continued in Oakland as San Diego blew a 17-9 third-quarter lead to eventually lose the game, 34-31. The team is now 3-14 SU over its last 17 games and 0-9 SU in its last nine games against teams with winning records.

Thursday night’s total is set at 45.5 points. The UNDER is 5-2 in the last seven games between Denver and San Diego.

In their last 15 games at home, the Chargers are 6-9 SU and 3-12 ATS. There is a sharp contrast in this game between the Broncos, who always seem to find a way to win games, and the Chargers, who have consistently shown an inability to do so.
