Giants vs. Packers 2016 odds: Green Bay a TD favorite at home vs. New York on Sunday night

The Green Bay Packers host the New York Giants on ‘Sunday Night Football’ riding an 11-3 run against the spread in October games.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are 13-1 straight up and 11-3 against the spread in their last 14 games played in the month of October. The Packers will look to keep rolling this Sunday night at home against the New York Giants.

Green Bay is a 7-point home favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 24 home games coming off a win at home, the Packers are 17-7 ATS.

The bye week last week came at a good time for the Packers, who have stumbled out of the gate offensively with just 293.7 yards per game; one of only four teams in the NFL to average fewer than 300 yards per game so far this season.

Green Bay did score 34 points against the Detroit Lions in a 34-27 win in Week 3 with 31 points in the first half, which could be a sign that the Packers are finding their groove. The Packers went into their bye with a 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS record.

Since the 2002 season, Green Bay is 11-3 SU and 10-3-1 ATS in 14 games coming off a bye week, per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Green Bay -7 / 48 Points

Trend: The Packers are 13-1 SU in their last 14 games in October.

Trend: The total has gone UNDER in six of the Packers’ last seven games at home.

New York couldn’t get anything going as a 3.5-point road underdog in Minnesota on Monday night, scoring just 10 points in a 24-10 loss.

Odell Beckham Jr. suffered through the worst game of his young career, catching just three passes for 23 yards while failing to record a touchdown reception for the fifth straight game. With the loss, the Giants fell to 2-2 SU and 0-3-1 ATS on the season. New York is 15-5 ATS in its last 20 games as an underdog of seven points or more.

Sunday night’s total is set at 48 points. The OVER is 5-2 in the last seven games between these two teams.

In addition to having home-field advantage in this game, the Packers should also be the much fresher squad. The Giants are traveling for a second straight road game on a short week coming off a Monday night game, while Green Bay is coming off a bye week and played its previous game at home.
