NFL odds, Week 17: Raiders vs. Broncos, Packers vs. Lions among key betting matchups

The Oakland Raiders can clinch a first-round bye with a win over the Denver Broncos as one of the underdogs on the betting slate for NFL Week 17.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders are 2-8 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 road games against the Denver Broncos. The Raiders will try to lock up a first-round bye this Sunday with a road win against their hated division rivals.

Oakland is a 2.5-point road underdog on the NFL point spreads at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Quarterback Derek Carr was lost for the season to a broken fibula last Saturday, muting the celebration of Oakland’s 33-25 win over Indianapolis that brought the team’s record to 8-1 SU and 7-2 ATS over its last nine games.

Matt McGloin will take over at quarterback for the Raiders against the Broncos, who were eliminated from playoff contention with last week’s loss.

Should the Raiders stumble against the Broncos, the Kansas City Chiefs have the most to gain. Kansas City is a 5.5-point favorite on the road against San Diego. The Chiefs would overtake the Raiders for the lead in the AFC West and secure a first-round bye with a win and an Oakland loss. San Diego is 0-5 SU in its last five games against Kansas City.

Over in the NFC, Washington now virtually controls its own destiny after winning last week and seeing Detroit and Tampa Bay both lose. Barring an unlikely tie between Detroit and the Green Bay Packers, Washington would jump the loser of that game for the sixth and final playoff spot with a win over the New York Giants.

Washington is an 8-point favorite at home against New York, which will likely opt to rest key players with a playoff spot secured. The Giants are just 1-9 SU in their last 10 road games against teams with winning records.

The last game of the regular season will be Sunday night for the NFC North title as Green Bay (-3) visits Detroit. With losses in each of their last two games, the Lions suddenly have their playoff hopes hanging in the balance against a Green Bay team that is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS over its last five games. The Packers are 18-4 SU in their last 22 games against Detroit.
