Needing a win to avoid a disastrous 0-3 start to the series, the Kings prevailed on Monday night with a 2-1 win in overtime. The Kings’ penalty kill was key to the upset win, killing off all five of San Jose’s power play chances.
After an ugly Game 1 at home in which the Sharks controlled the tempo in a 4-3 win, the Kings have managed to slow the last two games down with just three goals being scored in each one.
With Monday’s win, the Kings improved to 5-2 in their last seven road games against San Jose per the OddsShark NHL Database. The Sharks have had some recent road success against the Kings as well with a 4-0 record in their last four trips to Staples Center.

The road team winning each of the first three games in this series shouldn’t surprise Sharks backers as San Jose was the league’s best road team this season with a 28-13 SU record while below average at home at 18-23 SU.
Wednesday’s total is set at five goals at the sportsbooks. The UNDER is 7-3 in the last 10 playoff games between these two teams in San Jose.
The Sharks were eliminated from the 2014 playoffs with four straight losses to the Kings after taking a 3-0 series lead. A win in Game 4 would give the Sharks a chance to kill the Kings’ momentum and retake control of the series heading back to Los Angeles on Friday.
